Yoga & Meditation

Daniel's original journey into yoga began after his second lower back surgery in 2005. An avid extreme athlete that lived off the adrenaline rush of snowboarding, mountain biking, running and biking quickly came to an end as he was unable to run a mile without severe back spasms.

In 2008 Daniel was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and received a medical discharge from the Air Force. He had numerous bouts of mild to severe bouts of colitis from 1998 - 20010. It wasn't until he did a three week cleanse that he finally discovered the disease was a result of his over consumption of milk and red meat. Since cutting these out of his diet he's been off all colitis medications for about 6 years. 

Daniel has dealt with sexual compulsive behaviors off/on since his early twenties. It wasn't until he started getting into the deep work of yoga that he realized it was stemming from undealt memories which created this internal story of not being worthy of love. This created an innate desire to find this love through people and materialistic things outside of himself. He created Rebel Recovery as a desire to share his story of addiction and help others get to the root cause of the dis-ease. 

What originally began as a means to repair the physical body, yoga became an all pervasive life style after an awakening experience in 2012 that invited him into the full aspects of the teachings. 

Daniel incorporates all the practices of yoga to include:

  • Meditation
  • Pranayama
  • Kriya
  • Laya
  • Asana
  • Ecstatic Movement

He also utilizes pilates, Foundation Training and other modalities to create a unique and customized approach to yoga. 

Daniel is a firm believer that there is no "yoga" without meditation. He has been meditating consistently for five years and has been teaching meditation since 2013. Daniel's philosophy with meditation is that it should be fun, an exploration into the inner workings of the mind and body. The meditation techniques he uses include mantra, guided, pranayama and meditative kriyas. He likes to think of his classes and trainings as Meditation Journeys

He firmly believes each symptom needs to be looked at from the whole to alleviate the surface issues but also get to the root cause. Daniel approaches the practice of yoga through the physical and energetic bodies. He has a deep understanding of the chakra system and the various yoga practices that help stimulate and release stuck energy. 

With a degree in Computer Science Daniel has been in the engineering field for over 20 years and approaches the mind/body as a system of systems that cannot be reduced to only one system alone. Through his own issues with colitis, addiction, back surgeries, ADD and Bipolar Disorder he's committed his life to using the practices of yoga and meditation to help others live a life of JOY, PASSION and LOVE
